Sonamarg, the Golden Meadow Depending on when the roads will open, depart from Srinagar. Another breathtaking aspect of the countryside in Kashmir in the Sindh Valley is the drive to Sonamarg. The Kashmir Valley’s largest tributary is the Sindhu Valley. Drive to Sonamarg through the scenic village on the way to Kargil (2740 Mtrs). the 3527-meter-long, roughest road after Sonamarg, and the wet Zojila pass (Gateway of Ladakh). driving in the direction of Drass (The second coldest inhibited place in the world). We will continue on for another two and a half hours to Kargil (2710 metres), which gained importance after Ladakh was made accessible to tourists in 1974. Hotel stay for the night. After a leisurely breakfast, we drive to the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh, Hemis Monastery, 45 kilometres west of Leh. You are taken back along the same route from Hemis to Thiksey Monastery, which is situated on a hilltop and offers commanding views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is famous for its enormous Maitreya statue that is seated, as well as for its (Dukhang) assembly hall, which has hundreds of rectangular prayer books that are bound in silk and stacked between wooden covers. Following that, we carry on driving past a number of chortens in order to visit Shey Palace, the former summer residence of the King of Ladakh. Visit to the 3 Idiots School campus by Sindhu Darshan.
